ECCO III Enterprises does it again! With a superior technical proposal and approach, the firm was selected as best-value contractor for the New York State Thruway Authority (NYSTA) Project for the Reconstruction of a Portion of the New England Thruway (I-95) from MP NE 14.1 to NE 15.0; a Best Value Project procured to complete the “Last Mile” of the New England Thruway (I-95) Reconstruction. This is the third best-value contract awarded to ECCO III in the bridge and highway sector over the last five years. Determining factors included ECCO III’s relevant past performance, innovative construction approach and reduction to the project schedule. ECCO III has successfully delivered four large projects on the I-95 corridor, three large projects on the I-287 corridor and one large project on the I-87 corridor.

A 15-mile segment of I-95 carries traffic from NYC to the CT border. To date, 14 miles of the interstate have been reconstructed, spanning the Bronx, Pelham, New Rochelle, Mamaroneck, Harrison and Rye. This project completes the final mile of the span and contains a six-ramp interchange system with the Cross Westchester Expressway (I-287) and Midland Avenue in the City of Rye and Village of Port Chester.

The project includes the full replacement of the I-287 Ramp B Bridge over I-95 and the Grace Church Street Bridge over I-95, as well as the rehabilitation of four additional structures: I-95 Bridge over the Blind Brook, I-95 Bridge over Purchase Street, Boston Post Road Bridge over I-95, and I-95 Bridge over the Byram River. Additional project scope includes: permanent pavement reconstruction of the mainline and associated ramps; roadway improvements, including horizontal and vertical geometry and clearance modifications, guiderail and barrier installation, and shoulder widening; installation of noise walls, visual barriers and retaining walls; and drainage and utility work.
