Scope of Work:
This $5.6 million project for the New York State Department of Transportation is comprised of the rehabilitation of two bridge structures. The first carries Route 6 over I-84 in Wallkill, New York and the second carries Ballard Road over I-84 in Wawayanda, New York.Work at the Route 6 site includes the complete removal of the bridge deck and approach slabs, which will be replaced with new cast-in-place concrete deck and approach slabs. The bridge will be lifted to facilitate bearing and substructure work. Existing steel rocker bearings will be replaced with new elastomeric bridge bearings, and pedestals will be reconstructed. The new deck will be constructed with cast-in-place concrete. The construction will be staged, and will consist of two major stages. Existing guide railing will be removed and replaced with single slope concrete barrier and pedestrian fence. At the Ballard Road site, the bridge deck will be removed and replaced with a new cast-in-place concrete deck. The bridge will be lifted for work to occur on the bridge bearings. Existing steel rocker bearings will be replaced with new elastomeric bridge bearings, and pedestals will be reconstructed. The approach slab will also be removed and replaced. Existing railing will be replaced with single slope concrete barrier. The work at this site will be facilitated during a full road closure. Additional miscellaneous work at both sites includes: scupper/downspout removal, back wall/U-wall reconstruction work as necessary, substructure repairs as needed. |
