Located in the City of Mount Vernon, New York, the South Street Bridge and Fulton Ave Bridge are 130-year-old bridges that serve as important crossways within the city for vehicular and pedestrian traffic, connecting the community and enabling traffic to flow. The objective of this Project is to replace both existing aged bridges with new modern structures to improve traffic, pedestrian circulation, and access to Metro-North's East Mount Vernon Station adjacent to Fulton Avenue. This Project requires both Design-Build (DB) and Design-Bid-Build (DBB) delivery elements. The DB scope of work predominantly involves the replacement of the Fulton Avenue and South Street Bridge superstructures and rehabilitation of the substructures. The DBB portion includes the relocation of Metro-North Railroad (MNR) sidepower at both bridges, replacement of MNR electrical equipment in the PB-1 Substation Yard, and installation of the Mount Vernon Cut (MVC) access staircase and track level lighting.
