Scope of Work:
This $20 million project for Metro-North Railroad is to improve access and add parking capacity by further developing the Cortlandt Station into a passenger Intermodal facility. The development includes construction of a new station building with a 40 foot extension to an existing pedestrian overpass. The station building will contain a waiting area for commuters, a concession stand, storage rooms and a new elevator. The project also includes the construction of a new parking lot for over 700 vehicles. The parking lot construction involves the driving of steel H-piles, concrete retaining walls, placement of approximately 49,000 cubic yards of fill, the construction of a prestressed concrete beam bridge, stormwater, sewage, water and electrical utilities, subbase and asphalt placement, fencing, timber railing and signage. The realignment and widening of a heavily trafficked intersection requiring new turning lanes, traffic signals, lighting and pavement is also included in this project.
